1. Students have to choose their major subjects for IGCSE (O' Level) and A’ level based on their interest of studying field at the Bachelors level (University) in beginning of Grade 8 in DIS.
2. There are three categories of sections in Grade 8. They are as follows in additional to the compulsory subjects:
**Pure Science -
1. Physics
2. Chemistry
3. Biology
4. Human Biology
5. Computing Studies
6. Pure Mathematics
**Pure Commerce -
1. Business Studies
2. Commerce
3. Accounting
4. Economics
5. Computing Studies
6. Pure Mathematics
**Mixed Section -
combination of Science and Commerce subjects
3. Compulsory subjects are English Language, Bangla and Mathematics B.
4. Students have to take minimum seven subjects. Three subjects are compulsory and the rest of the subjects are optional.
5. Students must sit for Monthly, Half Yearly and Final Exams of Grade 8 without any interruption. Students must pass the Final Examination of grades 7, 8 & 9 to be eligible to fill up registration form for the IGCSE (O’ Level) Examination from school.
6. Students can sit IGCSE (O' Level) in one sitting or in multiple sittings. Edexcel does not have any requirement that force students to take all the subjects in one sitting. The students who have decided to complete their IGCSE (O' Level) in two or more sittings should complete their Edexcel examination and then seek admission in A' Level.
7. Students are entitled to drop and add any optional subject after completing one-month (30 days) class. No subjects can be dropped in between Monthly and Half-Yearly Examinations. After Half Yearly Examination students can drop optional subjects within 30 days. The compulsory subjects may not be dropped.
8. For dropping a subject an application must be given to the Academic Coordinator for getting approval from the Vice- Principal and Principal. If it is approved by any of the above person, then the student officially can drop or add the subject.
9. Registration for May-June Examination under Edexcel usually starts during the month of February and for January Examination, registration starts in the month of October. Dates might vary session to session.
10. O’ Level Examination process is commenced on-line. It can be conducted from school or from home (computer, internet and printer will be needed in this regard). Students need to fill up information and make bank draft as asked.While filling the form under institution, students should choose DIS; otherwise they will not be recognized as students of DIS by British Council. Once the online form is filled, a printout hardcopy of the form will has to be submitted with bank draft to the prescribed school address, House # 71, Road # 9/A, Dhanmondi R/A, Dhaka – 1209 or House # 03, Sonargaon Janapath, Sector # 12, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka - 1230.
11. To conduct through school (DIS), student needs to submit Statement of entry (if any), photocopy of first five pages of student's passport, 4 copies of passport sized photos, bank deposit slips and the asked registration fees to the school Admission office.
12. Upon verification of the student's identity and fees clearance, the school authority will process the form and submit it to British Council. The statement of entry for the examination has to be collected from the school at House # 71, Road # 9/A, Dhanmondi R/A, Dhaka – 1209 or House # 03, Sonargaon Janapath, Sector # 12, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka - 1230.
